Job Profile:

Lead monitoring and management of database health, availability, and performance
across Production, DR, and UAT environments
Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance bottlenecks. -
Manage database alerts, logs, and system events using enterprise monitoring tools.

Ensure high availability and adherence to SLA/uptime targets for mission-critical systems.

Design, implement, and manage backup strategies using RMAN (Oracle) and native SQL
Server tools. -
Validate backup integrity and conduct periodic restore and recovery testing.

Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) strategies aligned with business
requirements. -
Lead recovery operations during incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.

Architect, implement, and manage high availability solutions including Oracle Data
Guard and SQL Server Availability Groups. -
Execute and oversee switchover and failover operations
Ensure continuous synchronization between primary and standby systems. -
Lead and participate in BCP/DR drills and resilience testing.

Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle and SQL Server database platforms.

Manage database security, including users, roles, and access controls
Perform database cloning, refreshes, and environment provisioning. -
Ensure systems are compliant with vendor best practices and internal standards

Analyze AWR/ASH reports, execution plans, and system metrics to diagnose
performance issues -
Optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, and database configurations.

Manage system resources including memory, storage, and I/O performance.

Drive continuous improvements in database performance and scalability.

Support and review database changes, deployments, and release activities.

Execute data migrations, upgrades, and schema modifications.

Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and application teams.

Ensure proper change control, documentation, and rollback planning.

Implement and enforce database security best practices and policies.

Manage encryption technologies such as Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).

Support regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., banking, government standards).

Conduct periodic audits and access reviews.

Support and manage databases in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and hybrid
environments. -
Contribute to cloud migration and database modernization initiatives.

Manage cloud resources including compute, storage, and database services.
-
Optimize cost, performance, and scalability in cloud deployments.

Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and SOPs.
-
Produce regular reports on database health, performance, and backup status.
-
Document incidents, root cause analyses, and resolution steps.

Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiation.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior DBAs
Participate in architecture design and technology decision-making
Drive automation, standardization, and best practices across database environments. -
Align database strategies with business continuity and digital transformation goals.
Work Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in database administration (Oracle and/or SQL Server)
- Strong expertise in HA/DR solutions (Data Guard, Availability Groups).
- Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting tools (AWR, ASH, execution plans)
- Hands-on experience with backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, native tools).
- Exposure to cloud platforms, preferably Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
