workloads for which they are embracing Oracle Linux and Oracle Linux KVM to have a
scalable and cost effective solution.
BUSINESS CHALLENGES.
Housing finance Bank (HFB), Uganda was implementing a refreshed Core Banking solution (CBS) and as part of that they embarked on a Tech refresh journey. HFB wanted to implement a solution that could help them consolidate all the Application and Database workloads related to the CBS keeping in mind the challenges around scalability and cost implications.
HFB also desired to have a solution that will be fully compatible with the business application as well as provide good performance, non-intrusive updates, and enhanced security. HFB identified the value proposition of Oracle Linux solution which could help them consolidate the workloads and also keep a check on their overall cost without compromising on the performance, security and scalability.

Housing finance Bank (HFB) was confident about Oracle Linux’s functionalities and feature
sets that matched their requirements.
Also, HFB turned to Oracle Linux given the fact that Oracle is a leading solution provider for
Enterprise solution with a proven record of providing advance technology and seamless
support experience.
HFB was well aware of the performance and security benefits offered by Oracle Linux which
helped them to take an informed decision.
RESULTS & OUTCOMES.
Housing finance Bank (HFB) implemented Oracle Linux KVM virtualization environment across 4 x Dell Nodes with Oracle Linux 8 as the host operating system providing a cost effective approach for their workload consolidation.
The Oracle Linux subscription was fully compatible with the underlying Dell Hardware along with strong integration with the existing Oracle DB and Oracle RAC which helped in providing a seamless integration.
By integrating Oracle Linux, HFB made use of Oracle Linux’s robust non-intrusive updates that helped HFB Uganda to reduce downtime related issues to a great extent.
HFB leveraged on the Oracle Linux’s UEK integration especially with Oracle Database solution to provide enhanced performance levels for the workloads.
By implementing Oracle Linux, HFB Uganda was able to have enhanced level of security by following the best practice implementation steps to deploy the Oracle Linux.
